Actor Vishal and director Pandiraj announced that they would be collaborating for a movie venture in May 2015, with the pair sharing production duties. An official statement announced that work would begin on the film after director pandiraj had finished work on two other ongoing film like, Pasanga 2 and Idhu Namma Aalu. The first filming schedule of this movie began in July 2015, with actress Catherine Tresa joining the team as the lead heroine after talks with actress Keerthy Suresh were unsuccessful. Ths movie title was revealed to be Kathakali in September 2015 and audio of this film was released on 24 december 2015.
Vishal recent movie Paayum Puli was an average film which is directed by Suseenthiran. And now he is coming with a film kathakali which is directed by pandiraj and music was given by Tamizha .This film is based on real story.
